Rugby in Motion

Purpose of the workshop

This workshop introduces students to the fitness and physicality required to play rugby. Students will explore the different positions on the field to see what skills and fitness best support these. They will then use this knowledge to work together to create training schedules for different players.

Learning Outcomes

  • Examine the different physical requirements needed for rugby and how they differ between players.
  • Apply knowledge learned to create an appropriate training schedule for a chosen position.
  • Develop communication skills by working as a team and explaining reasoning behind decisions made.

Activities

  • Practical classroom session led by Museum educator.
  • Self-directed tour of the World Rugby Museum galleries.
  • Behind-the-scenes guided tour of Twickenham Stadium.
